The 25-step section is part of the original staircase from when the Eiffel Tower opened in 1889. The section in question —which weighs 750 kilos — was used to climb the iron tower in the days before lifts were introduced to the structure in 1983.

The staircase was auctioned for a whopping 169,000 euros (£150,380; $192,174) to an anonymous bidder in the Middle East. The section was previously owned by a private collection in Canada, per Reuters.
